Who Are We?

The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) is a collective bargaining agent for members in a wide segment of the workplace.

UAW-represented workplaces range from multinational corporations, small manufacturers and state and local governments to colleges and universities, hospitals and private non-profit organizations.

Region 8 covers the southern United States, including Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, New Mexico, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and the following counties of Pennsylvania: Franklin, Cumberland, Adams, York.

The makeup of our membership is no different from that of the International Union. Our members work in manufacturing, state governments, agriculture and office buildings. They build many of the vehicles you drive, the planes you ride in, package the food you eat and handle the professional documents you need.

The membership of Region 8 includes 63,000 and 50,000 retirees in 102 local unions, across seventeen states.

The UAW is a socially minded organization, that believes in helping others. Each year our membership donates millions of dollars to charitable causes and logs thousands of our hours in community service. After all, helping others is what the union is all about!
