UAW Amalgamated Local Union #171 of Hagerstown, Maryland
participated in the 11th Annual Mack Truck “ Bulldog” Round-Up
held September 18, 2004. The Round-Up is one of the premier heavy-truck
shows on the East coast. Several union members donated their hard-earned
leisure time off, to volunteer and participate in this worthy event, that
donates all money earned to charitable causes in the tri-state area.
UAW # 171 gave many souvenirs away, had two golf events; a putting contest
and a chip-shot contest; along with a coloring contest and a craft table
for children. An American -made “Orange County Chopper” Schwinn
bicycle was given away in a random drawing. The bicycle was won by Dalton
Bailey of Hagerstown, a Boy Scout volunteering his time at the event to
pick up trash.
How fitting! The UAW Booth was the brain-child of UAW Amalgamated Local
# 171 President Dave Perkins, who, along with many volunteers, manned
the booth for the day, while others helped out where needed.
Local # 171 represents members at Mack Truck, Xerxes, and EPS.
