Kentucky Union Women’s Lobby Day
By Becky Staley Local 3047

Our UAW sisters were proud to stand alongside labor women from across Kentucky for the first-ever Kentucky Union Women’s Lobby Day, and what a powerful day it was.

Women from the UAW joined fellow union members representing IUE-CWA, UFCW, Teamsters, ATU, and AFSCME to show up for working people at the Capitol. Many were lobbying for the very first time, and every single one of them walked in ready to lead.

Throughout the day, our delegation met with legislators across the building, and more than a dozen came to visit us, including Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman, who took time to speak directly with our members after lobbying to hear how things went. That kind of access doesn’t happen without union women demanding a seat at the table.

The UAW has always believed that when women lead, the labor movement gets stronger. Days like this are proof. We’re building power in Kentucky, and our sisters are right at the front, leading the way.
