Thank You To Local 42 From UAW Region 8 Education Rep David Firkins
UAW Local 42,
I wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you for the warm welcome I received during my visit to the UAW Local 42, Volkswagen Plant. It was an absolute pleasure to be there and educate the membership about Understanding Grievances.
Under the direction of UAW Region 8 Director Tim Smith, I had the chance to meet the fantastic VW Bargaining team, led by UAW Vice President Chuck Browning, Top AA Branden Keats, and UAW Region 8 Servicing Representative Jim Bledsoe. Their dedication to the membership and their tireless efforts to negotiate fair working conditions is truly inspiring.
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, as the UAW Region 8 Education Representative, I had the honor of meeting many of our brothers and sisters at UAW Local 42 during one of the three classes we held. The class was all about Weingarten rights, grievance procedure, and helping members understand how to hold the company accountable when the negotiated agreement has been violated.
A big shoutout to all the UAW staff who have been steadfast in their support for UAW Local 42. And most importantly, a heartfelt thank you to the UAW Local 42 Volkswagen membership for your solidarity and hospitality. I look forward to visiting UAW Local 42 again soon and continue delivering training from the Education Department to help make your jobs successful.
