Region 8 And Kentucky State Cap Sponsors
Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys & Girls Ranch

The Boys & Girls Ranch is dedicated to redirecting the lives of children in Kentucky; to build their self-esteem, moral character, and teach them to have respect for themselves as well as law enforcement professionals and to remove fear of law enforcement.

Through the leadership of previous directors and now our current Director Tim Smith and Assistant Director George Palmer, for the last 6 years the United Auto Workers Region 8 have been very loyal sponsors for this camp by way of sponsoring an entire week for disadvantaged boys and girls from all over the commonwealth of Kentucky, to assemble here in Gilbertsville, Kentucky and enjoy the outdoors.

Region 8 sponsored the children and Kentucky State CAP sponsored backpacks full of school supplies, food and drink and sit-down time to talk to the campers about unions, the products we make and our role in promoting civil and human rights and labor rights to build a better society here in America.

Retired International Representative and minister Tom Savage, now a counselor for the camp, has been the outreach person assigned by Director Smith to speak on behalf of region 8 every year so far.

Brother Savage mentioned that the Kentucky Sheriffs Associations motto is “No Sherriff Stands Alone". Savage while speaking to the kids expressed that "No Child Should Stand Alone". Therefore, the members of the United Auto Workers Region 8 have got your backs.

Brother Brother Savage, as a grandfather, would like to express to our UAW brothers and Sisters, Children are our most precious resource, because they represent not only the future, but of God's love in a broken world. The magical influence of a child can bring light into the dark days and show us a small sample of how God loves us, His children.

We would like to express our gratitude to these two women who officially coordinate the camp and make things happen every year for these kids. Tracy Powell and Lisa Amato.
