CAP Council Work On Reuther Memorial
On Saturday, May 11th, 2019 executive board members from the West Virginia and South-Central Pennsylvania State CAP Councils traveled to Wheeling, WV to clean, mulch and plant flowers at the area where the statue is erected.
The statue was first dedicated in 2006 on a cold blustery day in Wheeling. This was a project assigned to Region 8 as Wheeling, WV was the home town of Walter Reuther.
The statue stands proudly along the Ohio River at the Wheeling Heritage Port and in front of the Wesbanco Arena in downtown Wheeling.
Each year these two CAP Councils travel to Wheeling to perform these tasks.
Many thanks to the Wheeling National Heritage Area for their support over the years in our efforts to honor the late President Walter P. Reuther and his family.
Members participating were: Ken Collinson and Travis Barrett from Local 1590, Martinsburg, WV. Bill Panebaker, Local 1968 and Keith Myers Local 1872. Jim Rogers, International Representative.
