Continental Motors Group Breaks Ground
For Expansion of Mobile Facility

Continental Motors Group broke ground this week for a $75,000,000 expansion of their Mobile, Alabama facility. The facility produces aircraft engines and has been an important player in the Mobile economy for over 50 years. The new facility is part of Continental’s plan to expand their operation in Mobile.

“The expansion to the plant is 275,000 square feet and will include new machinery and operations that will provide 400 new jobs,” states UAW Region 8 Assistant Director Tim Smith. The UAW represents the workers at Continental, with the members being longing to UAW Local 1639. “This investment will provide security for our members here at Local 1639 for years to come and be a vital part of the local economy.”

In addition to the new manufacturing operation, Continental will also house customer service and technology development in the new facility.
