Local 1853 Celebrates Labor Day

Saturday September 1st the 6th annual Labor Day was celebrated in Nashville with a parade down Broadway over the pedestrian bridge winding up with a picnic at Cumberland Park. The weather cooperated perfectly for the hundreds of labor leaders and enthusiasts that participated. Karl Dean our labor candidate for Governor was proud to walk in the parade with Union members. Following the parade participants enjoyed music and corn-hole while they ate hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings prepared by the AFL-CIO. UAW Local 1853 cooked approximately 1000 hot dogs and hamburgers for hungry participants who had worked up an appetite walking in the parade.  Phil Bredesen Labor candidate for Senator mingled with Union members while they enjoyed their picnic lunch. Many unions were proudly represented at the event, noticeably The AFL-CIO, CWA UAW, Plumbers Pipefitters, IBEW, Carpenters, and many more. It was a refreshing day spent in Nashville with labor and its supporters.
