Eastern Carolinas International Retired Workers Council Community Service

Ken Senter, Chairperson of the Eastern Carolinas IAC received the below thank you note from a teacher in the Horry County, SC school system after their contribution. This chapter services the retirees in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Great job!

Kenny and UAW Eastern Carolinas Retired Workers Council Friends,

I cannot express to you with enough sincerity in the amount of gratitude my class (and quite a few other classes too) have for you and your generosity.

The gift of school supplies is extremely urgent throughout the school year. With the transition of children between schools and a lack of sales towards the middle of the year, many teachers, like myself replenish as needed. While we are lucky to have our school provide us with many necessities, sometimes, it simply is not enough.

Today, my children felt like the recipients of a gold medal and not just because of the new school supplies, but because someone took the time out of their day to think of them even if they did not know them personally. Tomorrow, they will come in cheerful that they have a new eraser, folder, or notebook and do not have to ask more of their parents who may not be able to afford so.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart for considering Waccamaw Elementary when collecting school supplies. It is because of people as kind hearted as you, that many educators can continue teaching without worrying about unnecessary items such as pencils and pens, but more about our children.

Sincerely yours,

Erin Ellis
