Day Two Resolutions
Collective Bargaining and Economic Justice – After discussion from every region, delegates passed a resolution which addresses the growing wage gap between the one percent and the workforce. Sighting the record profits of corporations and the shrinking middle class, the proposal’s highlights include committing the strength of the UAW in our workplaces, committing to grow our union through organizing, continuing to fight against right-to-work laws and other political attacks on collective bargaining rights, and supporting legislative efforts to raise the minimum wage.
Building Power by Organizing – Delegates agreed to increasing union density by organizing, winning contracts and workplace justice for our members – retirees, active, new and future – deserve. Some of the proposal points include maintaining and increasing the UAW institutional and financial commitment to organizing, using that financial commitment in situations where our union has sufficient bargaining power to win better wages and benefits to organize nonunion facilities, and using our bargaining power to support UAW members throughout the supply chain in winning better contracts. |
