Opportunities in Region 8
Education and knowledge are key to labor's strength,
growth, and victories. Region 8 provides a variety of educational
opportunities designed to motivate members and develop leadership
skills. In some cases this is available through printed materials,
or videos published and produced for sale through the Purchasing
Department in Detroit. While specific workshops or classroom sessions
are scheduled based upon need and requested through the Regional
Director.
The Region sponsors a number of annual educational

The Region also sponsors a number of Conferences designed for specific
audiences. They include:

The Veteran's Council(s) Meeting
The Leadership Conference
The Civil Rights Conference

The Skilled Trades Conference
For the member who wishes to become more participative
in their local union, the Region conducts an annual Summer School
Program. This is a week long session held at Cumberland University
in Lebanon, Tennessee. The week long session exposes classroom participants
to a variety of fundamental subjects vital to the success of labor.
