2006 Alabama State CAP Essay Winners

The winners in the Alabama State CAP Essay contest were recently announced. The contest was open to all seniors scheduled to graduate from an Alabama High School and planning to attend college commencing with the fall 2006 term. The winners are:

1st Place $1200 Adrian A. Tate
Huntsville, AL
Supplemental awards include $200 to the 1st place winner’s guidance counselor and $200 to 1st place winner’s English teacher.

2nd Place $1000 Christal Dekich
Hartselle, AL

3rd Place $600 Jennifer Hammittee
Hamilton, AL

4th Place $400 Marcy Miller
Hamilton, AL

This years topics included:

- Why do we need organized labor in Alabama?
- How would the demise of organized labor affect the social stature of the American Worker?

Alabama State CAP and UAW Region 8 have offered this scholarship every year since 1982. “We would like to extend our congratulations to this year’s winners and thank everyone who entered,” states Alabama State CAP President Ted Letson.
